Dr. Simon Hubertus
Senior Clinical Scientist,
Dr. Simon Hubertus is Senior Clinical Scientist at Profound Medical. He graduated from RWTH Aachen and Imperial College London with a B.Sc. in Physics and M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering, respectively. Afterwards, Dr. Hubertus focused his research on quantification of brain oxygenation using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and its clinical application at Heidelberg University for which he received a PhD in Physics (Dr.rer.nat).
As Senior Clinical Scientist, Dr. Hubertus researches, develops and improves the core technologies of the Sonalleve MR-HIFU system both for existing as well as future clinical applications. One focus for example are acoustic and thermal simulation models that aim at optimizing the performance, efficiency, and safety of Sonalleve treatments.
Dr. Kang Zhou
Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, China
Dr. Zhou received his Medical degree from Peking Union Medical College, and has been working at Peking Union Medical College Hospital since 2007.
Dr. Zhou’s major is oncology intervention therapy, such as transcatheter arterial chemoembolization and thermal ablation for HCC, transcatheter arterial embolization for uterus fibroids.
Since 2010, Dr. Zhou has started the clinical trial of MRgFUS. From 2014, Dr. Zhou’s team began to carry out clinical treatment. In seven years, his team treated more than 1000 patients with hysteromyoma and adenomyosis on the ExAblate platform. Since 2020, Dr. Zhou began to perform clinical practice on Sonalleve system. In two years, he has treated over 100 cases on Sonalleve system.
Dr. Mathieu Liberatore
Chief of Service of the Ultrasound & Breast Imaging Department,
Princess Grace Hospital, Monaco
Dr. Liberatore studying Radiology in Paris, France for 13 years. After practicing in Cochin, Necker and La Pitié Salpêtrière Hospitals, Dr. Liberatore decided to go back home to the Principality of Monaco. Dr. Liberatore is currently the Chief of Service of the Ultrasound and Breast Imaging Department at the Princess Grace Hospital. His clinical expertise is focused on Musculoskeletal imaging, Pelvic Imaging (both men and women), and breast imaging. Three months ago, he began HIFU treatment for fibroid lesions using Sonalleve. Dr. Liberatore and his team are extremely happy with the results from their initial cases, and are looking forward to continuing with the HIFU and many other innovating treatments.
